The production of Spearmint oil in 2012-13 has been going slow. As compared to last year 2011-12, the production of Spearmint
crop will go down this year because of farmers not getting satisfactory prices
for their produce.
The main reasons are responsible for low production of spearmint in 2012-13 are:
- Diseased roots
- Unavailability of new roots
- Farmer shift towards Mentha (More Profitability of Mentha)
- Adulteration of L carvone synthetic
